Jama Software is announcing an update to the Jama Software SAML SSO offering. We’ve made several improvements, including SHA256 support and the addition of regional options for Europe and Australia. A configuration update to your IdP will be required. Our support group will be available to schedule a migration for your SAML integration starting September 20th, 2017 . You will need to schedule a window prior to November 15th, 2017 . Depending on your IdP, you should expect a brief window where your Jama users will not be able to login. WIRIS Equations Editor

Be the first person to like this.
The building of complex products isn't just about writing the right requirements; it's also about demonstrating correct implementation of those requirements in the product. Until now, this implementation information lived outside of Jama Software, often in siloed documents. In 8.20, we've partnered with WIRIS to introduce the WIRIS Equations Editor. The WIRIS Equations Editor is a visual editor that allows insertion of mathematical and chemical formulas into the rich-text editor. Equations are created either by selecting by icon, or through handwriting. The WIRIS Editor renders an equation by connecting to WIRIS' cloud. After connection, the image ...

If you have upgraded an on-premises environment to Jama 8.x, you know that our new deployment model relies on Docker and Replicated .  Typically we regression test with the latest version of Replicated and recommend customers update Replicated accordingly. However, for Jama’s latest on-premises release, 8.20, we encountered some possible issues with pulling Docker 17.06. There is a defect (SOS-DEF-2086*) with Replicated that results in not all logs populating in the support bundle. If your organization updates Replicated separately from Jama, please refrain from updating to versions greater than Replicated 2.9.3 and Docker 17.03. If your organization employs ...

What are Attachments? Jama is designed to allow for great flexibility of content, making it the ultimate definition of a system of record. While many of our customers are busy tapping away at the keyboard, they are often associating their content with documents, images, graphs, tables, equations, and so much more. External documents and images are referred to as attachments in Jama.   Uploading Attachments via REST API There are two main ways to utilize attachments in Jama: Attach a file to an item Embed a clickable link to an attachment within an item's text   Adding an Attachment to a Jama Item Attachments can ...

How to use Round Trip

Be the first person to like this.
The Round-Trip feature is designed to conduct mass editing of multiple items in Jama. It is important to keep in mind that this feature is exclusive to Excel documents only.   This is done so by exporting the desired items to an Excel Document, making the desired changes offline, and importing the edited document back into Jama, where you will see the updated changes to the items. Step 1: Selecting and Exporting Items for Round-trip In this example, we will be using test cases. While in List View, select the files you wish to export for Round Trip. You can select multiple items by holding the Ctrl button while clicking on the items you need. Go to the ...

Due to a bug affecting Jama versions before 8.0—SOS-DEF-773—it was possible to add unicode characters through imports or copying-and-pasting content from other systems/tools. These characters are now automatically stripped during Jama imports and saving items, though previously added characters may still be present in any instance. They won’t be causing any errors since Jama is able to handle them. However, issues may arise when placing data into XML, since XML parsing libraries can't handle these characters. Exports or integrations are examples of features that might be affected by this. All the control characters can be searched using an ASCII table such  ...

At Jama Software, the summer’s biggest event doesn’t occur on August 21st, when, just to our south, we experience a total solar eclipse. Instead, we’re looking at early September, when we deliver our next release to our Standard channel. The Standard release is the opportunity for everyone, even those in regulated environments, to receive the updates we work on all year. These twice-yearly releases bring a flurry of activity as we look to wow all our customers. Before we talk about what’s coming, let’s take a look at what happened since we last talked . Better Focus in Review Center

Reviewing documents digitally is a major step toward working faster. Reviewing documents digitally with minimal friction between each stage, from draft to reviewed to signed off, is the next level of digital transformation that Jama is working to achieve for product development this year.   Here's what's coming to Review Center: First up is the ability to see all changes inline in the new Compare Mode in Review Center . This decreases the number of clicks needed, and can give you a sense of how much has changed in a glance. Also coming is the ability to compare the latest revision to any past revision of the review. This will come in handy ...

If you encounter issues installing or upgrading Jama 8, walk through the checklist below before submitting a support ticket . Many of the issues that our customers have reported while installing Jama 8 have been due to one (or more) of the following.   Does the Jama application server meet the specifications for Jama 8? Is Jama configured behind a proxy? Is a firewall blocking the communication between Jama’s containers and the server? Is the Jama server connecting with the database? Have you changed the Jama server IP address? Are you pointing an existing Jama 8 environment to a new database? Are all Replicated ...

Atlassian has made some changes to account verification with JIRA that may cause a sync with Jama to stop. This will affect some users of the JIRA Cloud, but not those who host their own JIRA instance. Users will need to go through Atlassian’s account change and verification process with the user setup for the integration if they appear to be affected. This can be done via https://id.atlassian.com/; users should log in with their JIRA user utilized for the sync. You may be required to change the JIRA password  because Atlassian consolidated all their user accounts to be unique per email. Once you go through this process, you should be able to sync Jama with ...

Picklists and multiselect fields, like all other Jama Software item types, can be updated via the REST API. Updating an item via the REST API is done by sending a PUT request. PUT requests update the fields of an item with new values. When submitting a PUT request, it is important to send the values of all the fields you intend to leave the same as well as the fields whose values you are changing. To get all the field values for an item, send a GET request. The behavior of a PUT request may appear unintuitive at first, but the reason for this design decision is to make PUTs more useful. While sending a new value for a field updates the content of that field, ...

Jama Software’s top priority is to provide the best possible experience for customers. This week, we discovered a last-minute issue that could impact our customers. Even with the best efforts of our Engineering and Product teams, it was not resolved in time for our 8.16 release. After considering all options, we made the decision today to cancel the 8.16 release. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change to the plan. All updates from 8.16 will be rolled into the 8.17 release, expected in Jun

We've recently updated the documentation at http://dev.jamasoftware.com/rest#auth  to include the new Self-Service OAuth flow that we're adding with the upcoming Jama 8.17 release. This upcoming feature will allow any hosted Jama customer to create and manage OAuth client credentials for use with the Jama REST API. Please be aware that you won't see the Set API Credentials button on your User Profile screen until Jama 8.17 is deployed to your hosted instance.
